The annual KORG Digital Piano Competition for young aspiring talents.

Jointly organised by Korg, City Music Singapore and Popular, we proudly present: KORG Junior Piano Competition of 2019!
 
All young pianist aged 12 and under are now able to participate in this opportunity. Candidates that have successfully breezed through auditions are required to attend the finals of the competition as KORG Junior Piano Competition finalists. The grand finals will be held at BookFest@Singapore on 8 December 2019, from 6 - 8PM.

Registration Guidelines

All participants must be 12 years old and below (born in the year 2007 or later). The KORG Junior Piano Competition is open to candidates of all nationalities and background.

Venue: POPULAR Bras Basah Complex (Level 2)

Venue: Suntec Convention Hall 401 (Stage Area)
 
Time: 6pm – 8pm
 
*Participants will be notified of the audition venue, date and time via email and/or phone.

Format of Competition

1. Auditions
 
Successful registrants will be invited to audition at POPULAR Bras Basah Complex.
 
For the audition, participants must perform ONE (1) solo piano piece from eras of Western music (including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Twentieth Century).
 
Original compositions and improvisations are not permitted. Repeats may be played at the discretion of the performer but are not required.
 
The audition floors will be open for practice 1 hour before the audition. Practice session is based on a first-come-first-serve basis and limited to 10 minutes per participant. Participants are advised to bring along their own headphones for the practice session.
 
 2. Grand Finals
 
10 finalists will be selected to proceed to the finals at BookFest@Singapore 2019. Finalists will be contacted via email and/or phone call by 2 December 2019 (Monday).
 
Finalists will be given 5 minutes on stage for their piano recital. Finalists are only required to perform ONE (1) piano piece and it can be the same as the audition piece.
 
Original compositions and improvisations are not permitted. All decisions made by the judges are final.
 
The top 3 winners will be crowned along with 7 consolation prizes. The prize presentation will be held on stage at the end of the Grand Finals. Prizes are worth more than $4,000!

JUDGING CRITERIA
The performance will be assessed based on Arrangement, Performance, Tone and Rhythm.
 
Judges may call a stop to the audition (without affecting the score). All decisions made by the judges are final.

Rules and Regulations

This contest is only open to children aged 12 years old and below (born in the year 2007 or later), excluding employees and immediate family members of KORG, City Music Co (Pte) Ltd and Popular Book Co (Pte) Ltd. The age requirements apply to the participant’s age as of 8 December 2019. The KORG Junior Piano Competition is opened to candidates of all nationalities and background.
 
Registration is free of charge and registration closes on 17 Nov 2019. It is the responsibility of the participants and their parent/guardian to read the competition guidelines and all other terms and conditions stated herein.
 
By participating in the competition, the participant and their parent/guardian agree to accept all terms and requirements set forth herein and be bound by decisions of the organisers. KORG, City Music Co (Pte) Ltd and Popular Book Co (Pte) Ltd reserve the right to change any of the competition guidelines and all other terms and conditions without prior notice.
 
All decisions made by the judges are final, and no correspondence regarding the judges’ decisions will be entertained.
 
KORG, City Music Co (Pte) Ltd and Popular Book Co (Pte) Ltd are not responsible for and shall not be held liable for any claims, suits, actions, liabilities, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind in connection with the competition or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prizes and awards.
 
Photographs and videos will be taken during this event for publicity purposes. By registering for the contest, the participant and their parent/guardian authorises the use of the participant's name, image, likeness or particulars for internal and external publicity purposes, without further compensation, for an unlimited period of time, in any manner as the organisers shall in their sole discretion deem fit, except where prohibited by law.
