Malte Horstmann
volca 12pack
KORG Booth // 2:00 PM (CET)
The KORG volca series of small and affordable synthesizers and groove boxes has been very popular for years, and up to this day, they are no less than ten different models available, covering all your synth needs from modular west coast synthesis to digital sample manipulation. In his show at the Keys & Frequencies online event, KORG artist and synthesizer expert Malte Horstmann is using a volca dream rig consisting of all different volcas (keys, bass, beats, drum, fm, sample, modular, nubass, kick, mix) for an impressive live performance with these super affordable yet pretty powerful synthesizers. Moreover, Malte is talking about the different models of the volca range and explains his complex setup in more detail. After the show, Malte will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
Vault Kid
8-bit bass music w/ Gameboy & hardware synths
KORG Booth // 3:00 PM (CET)
Energetic 8-bit bass music producer Vault Kid made a name for himself in early 2017, when he first started to release music made entirely on Game Boys and became part of the thriving chiptune scene in Europe. Since then, Vault Kid adapted modern music production tools and combines them with the bleepy video game sounds of his childhood to deliver uplifting dance music bangers. In this exclusive live performance at the Keys & Frequencies online event, Vault Kid is using a setup including the KORG synthesizers minilogue xd, monologue and volca fm. After the show, Vault Kid will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
Maik Schott
Bringing a modular system into the KORG multiverse
KORG Booth // 4:00 PM (CET)
KORG artist and synthesizer expert Maik Schott has been developing a way to transfer the unique and complex sounds of modular synthesis into the world of the digital KORG workstations KRONOS and NAUTILUS. The idea behind this concept is as simple as it’s effective: Taking the sounds of an expensive modular system out on the road without breaking the bank or risking damage, and switching instantly between different, complex patches as simple as pressing a button. In his workshop at the Keys & Frequencies online event, Maik is showing the different possibilities KRONOS and NAUTILUS are offering in order to create authentic modular sounds on a portable digital workstation. After the show, Maik will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
Tatsuya Takahashi (KORG Germany)
Imagining the future of music
KORG Booth // 4:30 PM (CET)
In this talk at the Keys & Frequencies online event, former KORG engineer and today’s CEO of Berlin-based R&D office KORG Germany will shed some light onto his career, the iconic products he developed so far and his vision for the musical instruments of the future. Get an exclusive sneak peek into the world of KORG product development and the life of the people behind the sounds. After the interview, Tatsuya will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
Malte Horstmann
Discovering opsix
KORG Booth // 5:00 PM (CET)
The brand-new opsix by KORG is taking FM synthesis to the next level. Still being able to create all your favorite synth sounds of the 80’s, the opsix can be used to create totally new and more complex soundscapes, using an additional multi-mode filter, high-quality effects and five different operator modes (FM, Filter FM, Filter, Ring Modulation, Wave Folder). In his presentation at the Keys & Frequencies online event, KORG artist and synthesizer expert Malte Horstmann is demonstrating the opsix in all its depth, explaining the super intuitive user interface with its color-coded operator mixer and six multi-purpose encoders. Creating your own FM sounds has never been easier. After the show, Malte will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
volca massaker orchester
Improvised electronic music on KORG volcas
KORG Booth // 5:30 PM (CET)
Since 2014, the Volca Massaker Orchester has used only the volca electronic device, made by musical instrument maker KORG, to play improvised electronic music. The little devices can be linked and so keep the same beat as they are connected by a cable. There is no repertoire – the pieces are reinvented every time, nothing is prefabricated. Enjoy this unique electronic music performance by the 7-head orchestra streaming live from Switzerland straight into your living room at the the Keys & Frequencies online event. After the show, the members of the orchestra will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
Maik Schott
Surfin' the wavestate
KORG Booth // 6:00 PM (CET)
One of the deepest synthesizers KORG has to offer these days is the incredible wavestate. Utilizing the concept of wave sequencing that was originally used in the 1990s in the iconic WAVESTATION synthesizer, wavestate is taking this whole idea onto a whole different level by adding numerous features such as real time control, randomize functions, multiple animation lanes, multi-mode filters and high-class effects, just to name a few. At the Keys & Frequencies online event, KORG artist and synthesizer expert Maik Schott is showing the possibilities of wave sequencing 2.0, the unique sound engine behind the wavestate synthesizer. After the show, Maik will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
Dan Philips (KORG R&D California)
Synths developed under the Californian sun: Meet the creators of KORG wavestate and modwave
Mainstage // 6:30 PM (CET)
In this exclusive talk at the Keys & Frequencies online event, you’ve got the rare opportunity of meeting the two guys behind some of the most interesting synthesizers of these days, the KORG wavestate and the recently released KORG modwave: Dan Phillips (Product Manager) and Andy Leary (General Manager) of KORG R&D California. Take a deep dive into the worlds of wave sequencing 2.0, motion sequencing 2.0 and KAOSS physics, and learn directly from the inventors themselves.

Kabuki
ARP 2600 M meets KORG SQ-64
KORG Booth // 7:00 PM (CET)
In his workshop, well-known producer and DJ Kabuki is showcasing two brand-new KORG products, the ARP 2600 M desktop module as well as the KORG SQ-64 poly sequencer. Using his deep knowledge of modular synthesis, Kabuki developed some very interesting techniques in order to use the monophonic ARP 2600 M as a kind of ‘multi-timbral’ instrument by controlling different parts of the synth with separate tracks of the SQ-64 sequencer. Lean back, enjoy the genuine ARP sound in its beauty and get to learn some interesting sequencing concepts. After the show, Kabuki will be available for your questions in an exclusive Q&A session.
