Scott Henderson
“First of all, I've tried every similar unit on the market and I've also tried every version of computer-based amp modeling software. To me, the PX5D sounds the most like a real amp. It also feels the best and reacts to picking and touch more like a real amp than anything else I've tried. The effects are great and it's amazing how many can be used at the same time. The bass & drum patterns are very flexible and an extra plus when the computer isn't around.
I've done tracks with the PXD5 and compared them with my own mic’d up amp. I've never heard any digital device or software get closer to the real thing! Its size makes it so easy to carry around that I can't imagine being on the road without it. Also, the editing software that comes with it is extremely easy and intuitive to use. I've easily written two bank files, one with all the reverbs and delays disabled for use at home where I have my own effects, and one with the reverbs and delays active for travel.
This version of the Pandora is one of the most fun and useful guitar tools I've ever owned!”

“All I can say is WOW! The PX5D is absolutely the best practicing tool I've ever heard.”
“The older blue model sounded great in hotel rooms, but I was still using an old POD for writing at home and listening through my studio speakers. Not anymore. The PX5D sounds way more like a real amp and also has better picking dynamics. I found four cabinet models that I really like, which is great because on any other device like this the most I've ever found is one. Just about all the amp models are useful to me through these four cabinet models, and that's a lot of sounds!”
“I also like the improved delays and reverb. Actually it's a big improvement, because now with the clear delay I can use delay only which is what I do live. On the PX4, all the delays were "vintage" sounding and needed reverb with them.”
“I put the PX5D through the real test - I A/B'd it with my favorite amp, my Suhr SH100 which is sort of a plexi Marshall clone, and my favorite pedal, the Maxon VOP-9. I blown away by how close the PX5D came to the real thing. It's really amazing.”
“The Sound Editor for it is great, and totally intuitive and easy to use. I've always found that sound librarians are way more complicated than the devices they support, but not true with this one. Within minutes I was editing on the computer and saving patches to the Pandora. Really nice interface too.”
“Congratulations to everyone at Toneworks for creating the ultimate portable practice tool!”

Modern Jazz and Blues with a hint of Pandora
by Hugh Gilmartin
Guitarist Scott Henderson has been tearing it up on both the blues and jazz-fusion scenes for quite some time. He’s played and created music with legends such as Chick Corea and Joe Zawinul. He’s also an integral member of Tribal Tech (a band that he formed back in 1984 with bassist Gary Willis and includes Korg endorsee Scott Kinsey on keys) and the trio Vital Tech Tones with Victor Wooten and Steve Smith. Scott certainly keeps good company!
For many years Scott has relied on Korg for the tools he uses to create his music. Scott has been using a vintage Korg M1 Music Workstation for fleshing out ideas while writing songs along with the latest addition to his tone arsenal, a Toneworks Pandora PX4. Scott was enthusiastic when we asked what he thought about the unit. “It’s awesome!” he replied. “I can simulate all my on stage sounds with it to make practicing for the gig more realistic when I’m on the road. It’s the best sounding tone I’ve heard from such a small box, and it’s really versatile.” The PX4 is the latest incarnation of the Pandora, which incorporates everything from killer onboard factory program sounds to a Phrase Trainer and an infrared wireless headphone transmitter.
Scott’s next project will most likely be another record including Tribal Tech alumni Victor Wooten and Steve Smith. He will also be on tour this fall in the U.S. and South America. Visit
