High-Quality MIDI-Synced Tempo Delays

A bunch of recent synths and effects include MIDI-synced delays. With some of them, however, you might notice a tell-tale clicking when the tempo changes - or even when it's supposed to be completely steady!

In contrast, the OASYS PCI's MIDI-synced tempo delays are smooth, responsive, and click-free.

Tempo Delay - Smoothing Parameter

We've done this through several MIDI tempo innovations, including MIDI clock jitter recovery, interpolated delay lines (which allow delay lengths to change smoothly, in real time), and the unique Smoothing parameter, which controls how long it takes to transition from one delay time to another. Medium Smoothing settings create seamless, clickless transitions - and in the demo below, notice how long Smoothing times can produce tape stop effects.

They also offer delay times up to 40 seconds (and you can use up to four of these 40-second delays at once!), fine adjust of synced delay times to create "swing" rhythms, individual high and low cut filters per tap, and more.

There's also the special Diffuse Delay effects, which combine tempo delays with the diffusion section of the O-Verb reverb. The diffusion softens and blurs the delays, resulting in a unique effect well-suited to vocals, drums, and all sharp or percussive sounds. In the demo below, we start with clean delays and then gradually add diffusion, so that you can see the difference that it makes.
