Test the audio outputs
To verify that the OASYS
PCI outputs are working:
1. Make sure to turn the
volume of your mixer/amplifier before proceeding. If you are
using headphones, don't put them on your head!
2. Connect the card's
analog out left and/or right to a mixer or amplifier. Even
better, connect one of the analog outs to a pair of
headphones.
3. Open the Multi named
"Continuous Sine Wave.oam," in the folder
Korg->Multis->Diagnostic.
4. Within a few seconds, a
continuous 880Hz sine wave should be heard coming out of the
left and right analog outputs.
5. Gradually turn up the
volume of your mixer/amplifier until you hear the sine wave.
If you have connected headphones to the card's analog
output, put the headphones next to your ear. If you still
don't hear the sine wave, put the headphones on
normally.
6. If you still don't hear
a sine wave, verify that in the File menu, the Play command
is disabled, the Stop command is enabled, and the command
above the Play command is labeled "Disconnect."

Make sure all OASYS PCI drivers are correctly
installed
The OASYS PCI installs a
number of driver files in various locations, all of which
are necessary for the OASYS PCI to function properly. If
they are not in the expected places, you can easily
re-install them using the Custom Install option in the OASYS
PCI installer program (MacOS), or by using the basic Windows
installer.
ASIO driver
The OASYS PCI ASIO driver
is required for ASIO-compatible digital audio programs to
use the OASYS PCI as an audio I/O card.
Most MacOS programs
require that ASIO drivers be installed in a folder named
"ASIO Drivers," in the same level as the application
program. If in doubt, consult your program's manual for more
information. In some cases, you may need to create and name
the folder yourself.
On Windows computers, ASIO
devices are entered in the Registry. If OASYS PCI does not
appear as an ASIO device, check out the advice under
Cannot
select as ASIO device in Windows
95/98/ME.
OMS and FreeMIDI drivers
(MacOS)
For the OASYS PCI to
appear as a MIDI device in a MIDI sequencer, the appropriate
MIDI driver - OMS or FreeMIDI - must be installed correctly,
in the System->FreeMIDI and System->OMS folders,
respectively.
The OASYS PCI Installer
will place the drivers in these locations by
default.
OASYS PCI Driver, Engine,
and Objects Library (MacOS)
These three files are
installed in the Extensions folder, within the System
folder. They are required for the basic functionality of the
OASYS PCI.

Make sure MIDI system is set up properly
Make sure that the MIDI
setup (OMS, FreeMIDI, Windows Multimedia, etc.) is correct.
Instructions for setting up MIDI systems are included in the
OASYS PCI Installation Guide; see also the FAQ articles on
OMS
and FreeMIDI.

Make sure outputs are set & connected properly
Check the output
assignment for the mixer channel. Make sure that you are
listening to that output, and that all cables are connected
solidly.
If the output assignment
is set to Master, then check to see which output is selected
as the Master in the Output Busses window, and then, as
above, make sure that you are listening to that output, and
that all cables are connected solidly.
Additionally, make sure
that all cables are connected and seated properly,
as
described here.

Disable AirPort card (optional) (MacOS)
One user with a G4 dual
533 CPU reported difficulties with the OASYS PCI suddenly
going silent. The user found that disabling their Airport
card solved the problems.

Check Effects
For various reasons,
Effects may sometimes cause the output to be silent. For
instance, gate Effects may be silent without a high input
level, MIDI gates may be silent without MIDI input, EQ input
levels may be turned all the way down, and so on.
As a quick check to see if
Effects are responsible for the silence, bypass all effects
in the channel or bus.To do this, option-click on any of the
Effects slot numbers.
If you hear audio after
bypassing, this means that one of the Effects is blocking
the audio. In this case, re-enable the Effects by
option-clicking again. Then, bypass individual Effects one
by one until you find the one (or more) which is
responsible.
Mono input insert
Effects
If a mono-input effect is
being used as a channel insert, and the effect input is set
to Left only, no sound will be heard if the audio input is
on the *right* channel only.
