Strange throbbing or pulsing sound

If you hear a strange pulse or a low, throbbing sound, make sure that "Editor Responds to OMS/FreeMIDI Controllers" (MacOS) or "Editor Responds to MIDI Controllers" (Windows) is turned off in the OASYS PCI Preferences window.

In particular, we have noticied this issue when using Digital Performer with Mackie's HUI control surface and OASYS PCI. One user has also reported a similar situation on a Windows system, without a HUI.

More Information regarding DP & HUI

DP and HUI use a note-on message of C-1 as an "active sensing" mechanism, to confirm that they are communicating properly. The note is sent roughly twice a second. OASYS PCI recieves this note and plays it (since, with "Respond to OMS/FreeMIDI Controllers" enabled, it is receiving all FreeMIDI data). Since the note is so low, you may hear a low, throbbing sound as opposed to individual pulses.
