Set "SMPTE/MTC Sync" to "Freewheel"
Digital audio programs
sometimes include an option to continuously synchronize
audio to incoming timecode (such as MTC or SMPTE), using
software interpolation. This is a very handy feature when
syncing to an analog tape deck. Essentially, it uses the
rate of the incoming timecode to control the word clock of
the audio.
However, when using the
1212 I/O and syncing to an ADAT-format digital multitrack,
this feature should be disabled. The 1212 I/O provides
continuous synchronization in hardware, through word clock
synchronization. Using software-based continuous sync in
addition to this will only serve to degrade the
audio.
In Cakewalk Pro Audio, the
sync mode is controlled by the parameter "SMPTE/MTC Sync,"
located in Settings->Audio Options->Advanced. To turn
off software-based continuous sync, set "SMPTE/MTC Sync" to
"Freewheel."

this topic, see Continuous
Sync vs. Trigger Sync.

Sample-accurate synchronization not
supported
Cakewalk does not
currently offer support for any form of sample-accurate
synchronization, including that offered by the 1212 I/O.
Hopefully, this capability will be added in a future release
of Cakewalk.
